Michael R. Blais, MD, 100, born Montreal Canada on Oct. 24, 1920, died Jan. 24,2021. Moved to FL in the 1920's. His father J. R. Blais, Sr. was a pioneer builder on the So. Peninsula (Blais Tr., Blais Ave.)Graduations: Mainland H.S., St. Bernard College, AL., McGill U. Canada, Tulane Sch. of Med. New Orleans (MD) Residency: Charity Hosp. New Orleans. Post grad. Urology, LSU. Served US Army, Korea, rank Captain Army Med. Corp. orthopedic surgery, Tripler Gen. Hosp., Hawaii. Opened med. practice Daytona 1956; Added Drs., Ayers, & Davis shortly afterwards, precursor to Advanced Urology Inst. Practiced at Halifax Medical Ct. Daytona Bch. over 30 yrs. Served as chief of surgery, urology, member Halifax Associates, consulting member on staff FL. Hosp. /Advent Health N.S.B., clinical Instructor for Univ. S. FL. member of the American Urology Assoc., FL. Med. Assoc., and Diplomat Board of Urology, Volusia Co. Med. Assoc. Board. of Governors. Daytona Bch. Chamber of Commerce, elected Commissioner So. Peninsula Zoning Board, 7 yrs., D.B. Jaycees and their Good Government Award 1970, Charter member/past president Halifax Kiwanis Club 33 yrs., Lifetime honorary member FL Sheriff's Assoc. 5 stars recognition & 20+ yrs. medical service FL. Boys Ranch, Quarterback Club 50 yrs., Fleet Surgeon Lake Beresford's Yacht Club. Annual publications: Outstanding Floridians 1976-78, Marquis Who's who in medical Specialties S.E. U S. & distinguished FL Physician, 2005. Dr. Blais was compassionate, caring, making house calls until he retired. He LOVED to fish & was fondly known as the Fishsician. Spent hrs. Fishing Ponce Inlet, Lake Beresford, Everglades, FL Keys, & St. Johns River. He is predeceased by daughter Leona E. Blais (Honolulu, Hawaii) wife Mary Elizabeth Blais (Hootie), parents, Joseph R. Blais Sr. & Marie D. Tetreault, 2 brothers and 1 sister. Also, wives Jackie Robinson & Evelyn Wellman. Survived by his children, Micheline Grant, (MS.) Michel Blais, Ormond Bch. Lorraine Blais Knoble, Wilbur-by-the Sea, Roland Blais, (MS.) brother Joseph R. Blais Jr. Ormond. He has large extended families that include, former step children, nieces, and nephews, grandchildren & great grands. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched. Visitation will be from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Monday February 1, 2021 at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona, 1423 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona Beach.  A Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday February 2, 2021 at The Basilica of St. Paul's Catholic Church, 317 Mullally Street, Daytona Bch.  Interment will take place in Daytona Memorial Park immediately following the Funeral Mass.  Condolences may be shared with the family here on our online guestbook.
