Mercedes Josephine Kendzierski Obituary

Mercedes Josephine Kendzierski, 86, of Ormond Beach, Florida, passed peacefully at her home in Ormond Beach on Saturday, July 2, 2016, after a long illness. She was born on April 4, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Loretta Patt of Chicago, Illinois; and daughter, Theresa (Terri) Szponder of Berkeley, Illinois. Mercedes and the Love of her life' her as she liked to refer to her husband, Fred, of 62 years, retired from careers in Illinois and moved to Ormond Beach, Florida. Mercedes was Head Nurse of an Intensive Care Unit in a Chicago Hospital. Although she was small she was mighty. Mercedes was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all. Surviving are her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, Alfred (Fred) Kendzierski; Daughter, Donna and her husband Douglas Goulet; Grandsons, Brian Goulet, Mark Szponder; and Granddaughter, Jennifer Gelsomino and husband Chris; Great-grandsons, Austin and Tyler Gelsomino; and Brother, Joseph Patt. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to The Alzheimer Association. A visitation will be held at Lohman Funeral Home on West Granada, Ormond Beach, Friday July 8th 2016, from 2:00 until 4:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Prince of Peace on Nova Road, Ormond Beach on July 9th at 11:00 am. An interment will occur in Niles, Illinois at a later date.
