Mercedes Renee Brown Cobos, age 98, of DeLand Florida, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at her residence. She was born October 3rd, 1925, in Ambato, Ecuador, a daughter of the late Jorge Brown and Manuela Cobos.

Mercedes was preceded in death by her son, Alfredo Paredes (2020), and daughter, Libia Campoverde (2021). She was an immigrant from Ecuador and moved to Chicago in 1975, aiming to be closer to her children and where she embarked as a fulltime grandmother. She officially became an American citizen on November 4th of 2002. In 2004, she relocated to DeLand with her daughter Maria (Paredes). She loved watching novellas and scratching off lotto tickets. She had a one-of-a-kind sense of humor, laughter, and smile.  She enjoyed spending time with her
children and grandchildren.

Mercedes is survived by four sons and two daughters. Jorge Paredes of Ecuador, Italo Paredes of Chicago, Santiago Paredes and wife (Rosa) of
Chicago, and Carlos Julio Paredes and wife (Carmen) of Chicago; two daughters, Juana Maria Paredes of DeLand, Mercedes Paredes and husband (Jose) of Orlando; Daughter-in-law Blanca Paredes and many grandchildren; and many great grandchildren; and some great great grandchildren. Blessed with a large family, Mercedes was proud of their history. She also leaves many
other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Lohman Funeral Home DeLand @ 935 E. New York Ave DeLand, FL 32724.
