Our mom , Franc es " Maureen " DeMali of Daytona Beach , Florida , passed away peacefully on July 3 , 2019 . She was born on November 23 , 1939, in Akron, Ohio to Frances & William Hunt. She was the oldest of 9 children and is preceded in death by her brothers, Eddie and Bill and sister, Maggie. She is survived by her sisters, Kay and Sharon and her brothers, Jim, Terry and Pat and countless nieces and nephews.

S h e is also preceded in death by her husband of nineteen years, Daniel DeMali. They relocated to the Daytona Beach area in the late 80's. S h e was employed for several years as the business office manager for a local nursing home and retired as the business office manager for a local chiropractor and was a member of Crossroads of Daytona Beach Church.

Sadly, our mom is also preceded in death by our brother, John Syroid, of Akron Ohio, who p assed away unexpectedly in September. A part of mom passed with him that day as she struggled daily life with a broken heart. S h e is survived by her son, Michael (Michelle) Syroid of Daytona Beach, Florida, her daughter, Tracey (Brian) Dark of Port Orange, Florida.

She is Irish and had the stubbornness to prove it! She loved football and was a staunch republican, bu t h er passion ... was always her family. She was a phenomenal mom, always putting the needs of her family above her own, instilling the importance of family and traditions and taking great care to make certain every holiday or event in our lives wa s "special" a nd "full of memori es ". Although we may not have always agreed, there was never a doubt that we were loved with her whole heart. As we became adults, our mom became our best friend. She is the first person we called for everything, g ood or bad, it didn't matter. She was the person who always understood and knew just what to say . Our hearts are broken. It's difficult to comprehend how we live life without her, but she prepared us well and her love will live within our hearts forever as we continue her legacy of creating family memories.

A s a devoted Grandma, the loves o f her life were her 11 grandchildren, Jason, Nicholas and Brandon Dark of Port Orange, Florida, Jenna Lysiak and Johnny, Ryan, Dammeon, Jamie, Michael, Kristyn, and Joey Syroid, all of Akron, Ohio. She spent most of her time on a ball field somewhere cheering them on with each one claiming to be "Grandma's favorite".

S h e is also "Grandma the Great" to her 17 great grandchildren, Carson Dark of Port Orange, Florida, Charlotte, Gavin and Dexter Lysiak of Akron Ohio, and Mason, Austin, Lacey, Conner, Allison, Camden, Kobyn, Braylon, Jac ey , Baily, Mila, Joseph and Evan Syroid, of Akron Ohio.

She taught us all the value of family and the importance of tradition. She will be greatly missed but remain forever in our hearts.

Family and Friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, July 8, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and funeral services on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at 11:00 a.m . at Lohman's Funeral Home, 1201 Dunlawton Avenue, Port Orange, Florida.
