Obituary

Mary M. Spetland age 93 of Ponce Inlet formerly of North Haven Connecticut passed away at her home peacefully on June 12 2013. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday June 18 2013 at 2:00 P.M at Covenant United Methodist Church 3701 Clyde Morris Port Orange FL.
Mary was born on February 23 1920 in Archbald Pennsylvania to the late Margaret Healy and Charles Paul Clemens. In 1943 she married Herbert Spetland. Shortly after Herbert was sent away with the Navy to help fight during WWII Mary remained home and helped with the war effort in the USO. The couple started a family and raised two daughters Marilyn and Barbara Spetland in North Haven Connecticut. Mary worked various jobs but most of all she enjoyed managing the household and caring for her family. She enjoyed making exquisite Christmas ornaments and delivering home cooked meals to friends and family. Following her husband's retirement in 1980 the couple relocated to Ponce Inlet. They were members of Covenant United Methodist Church and she volunteered at Oak Tree Healthcare and Nursing Home in Port Orange. Mary is preceded In death by her husband of 59 years Herbert Spetland parents Charles and Margaret Clemens; siblings Margaret Olsen Paul and Frances Clemens. She is survived by her daughter Marilyn (Richard) Faulkner of Fort Wayne Indiana Barbara Spetland of North Haven Connecticut; siblings Robert (Betty) Clemens of Chanute Kansas Betty (Charles) Farrell of -Erie Pennsylvania Ann Burns of Whitehall Pennsylvania; grandchildren Jonathan (Marianne) Powell Mary (Matthew) Norris Nelle Faulkner Margaret Faulkner Daniel (Kristina) Spetland Jeffrey (Mary) Spetland Carolyn (Stacy Krytopolous) Spetland Mary (Jon) Richardson; great grandchildren Nelle and Lexi Kaufman Emmiline Norris Hailee Richardson; nephews and nieces Paul (Mary) Clemens Artie Olson Jane (Skip) Holcomb Helen (Nate) Santana Christine and Christopher Seeley Charlene (Don) Seeley Betty and Louie Sindone; dear friends Bill and Dotty Calise Zenona Gates Ruby Raymonde and Faud Malouf Lori Larry Austin and Hillary Thomas and Audrey and Wayne Warmingham.
