Mrs. Mary Sheppard Simpson 79 of Wilber-By-the-Sea in Port Orange passed away on Friday July 20th. Mary Marsaline Sheppard was born in Commerce Georgia June 2nd 1933 the daughter of Dr. William D. Sheppard and Ruth Cannon Sheppard. Mary moved to Atlanta Georgia and after graduating from Westminster High School attended the University of Tennessee graduating in 1955. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority at U.T. She was united in marriage to Lealern Grady Simpson Jr. (L.G.) in August 1955 in Atlanta Georgia. L.G. at the time was a naval pilot stationed in Coronado California. L.G. and Mary moved to Atlanta where L.G. graduated from Ga.Tech. They later moved to Charlotte North Carolina and in 1974 moved to Wilber-By-the-Sea Port Orange. Mary was an active member of the Daytona Beach Symphony Society Friends of the Library Metropolitan Bridge club and the Tomoka Bridge Club. Mary and L.G. have been active members of the Westminsiter-By-the-Sea Presbyterian Church since 1974. Mary was survived by her loving husband L.G. of 58 years and two children Teresa Visscher and Steve Simpson. Mary was a beloved homemaker and grandmother of 5 grandchildren and one son-in-law residing in Atlanta Georgia: Kathryn(Katie) Collver 27 son-in-law Dutch Collver (married April 21 2012) Mary Babb 25 Elizabeth 22 and Clay 19 and Steve's daughter Anna 15 from LA California. Mary was proceeded in death by her parents Dr. William and Ruth Sheppard and her only sibling William Sheppard Daniel Jr. There will be a memorial service to celebrate Mary's life at Westminister-By-the-Sea Presbyterian Church at one o'clock p.m. on Wednesday July 25th 2012. Following the service the family will hold a graveside service at Pine Forest Cemetery in Mt Dora Florida.
