Mary Ferrao Schlitt 85 passed away on Sunday October 10 2010. A Celebration for her life will be held at Lohman Funeral Home at 10 am on Saturday October 16th 2010 Dunlawton Ave. Port Orange Florida. During her courageous battle with cancer Mary set an example of strength dignity and grace to all that loved her. She was born in Bethlehem Pennsylvania in 1925 and moved to her parents' homeland of Portugal when she was 9. Mary was married for 45 years to Fred Schlitt and enjoyed living in Port Orange for 32 years. She was preceded in death by her parents Antonio and Carma Ferrao sisters Emelia and Etelvina Ferrao brother Mario (Delmira) Ferrao husband Fred Schlitt and her daughter Laura Ferrao Petttit (Richie). She is survived by her three daughters Alice Wiesmore (Ken) of Ponce Inlet Sandy Young of Sarasota Deborah Hannon (J.T.) of Geismar LA sister Connie Ferrao Clark and brother Jose Ferrao both of New York. Mary was blessed with 10 grandchildren: Stephen (Courtney) and Michael Wiesmore Stacey-Lynn Haygood Jason (Sara) and Dan (Camile) Pettit Bradley and Alexa Meyer Zack Chris and Caroline Young family friend John Anzalone and several nieces and nephews. Mary also had four great grandchildren: Alyssa Cole and Chase Haygood and Gus Pettit. Mary enjoyed sewing cooking gardening and spending time with her loving family and friends. Mary walked 5 miles every day and made many friends along the way. Mary enjoyed making quilts and donated many to charitable organizations. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to your local chapter of the American Cancer Society.
