Mary Nichols, 97 years old, passed away on June 11th following health complications while residing at Coquina Center in Ormond Beach.
A Memorial Gathering with family and friends will be held on Tuesday June 16th from 4:00 ~ 6:00 pm at Lohman Funeral Home; 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach.
Mrs. Nichols, along with her husband, Raymond Sr. and their two sons, Raymond Jr. and Ken, moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL from Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1957. Mrs. Nichols was a career housewife and mother; she enjoyed cooking and dancing with her husband. She and her husband were married for over 70 years, and were always involved with their two son's activities as they grew up playing a variety of sports in the Ft. Lauderdale area. She was truly dedicated to her family. Mary and Raymond Sr., who preceded her in 2009, relocated to the Port Orange area in the early 1980's. Once again, their interest revolved around their family, and their granddaughter, Katie as she grew up.
Mary is survived by her sons; Ray C. (Sandy) Nichols, Jr. of Tampa, FL, Ken E. (Kathy) Nichols of Ormond Beach, FL, four grandchildren, Chris, Tracy (husband Mark), Katie (husband Tom), and Matthew; four great-grandchildren; Jeremy, Rebecca, Samantha and Beckett, her sister, Helen Horvath of Bridgeport, CT, and her nephew John and niece, Arlene.
A special thank you to everyone at Coquina Center and VITAS Hospice for their extraordinary kindness and compassion to Mary in the time she called Coquina Center her home.
