Funeral Services for Mary C. Motley ?Aunt Mary ? age 84 of Ormond Beach Florida who died Thursday March 11 2004 at her residence.

Funeral Mass will be Wednesday March 17 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Prince Of Peace Catholic Church 600 South Nova Road Ormond Beach FL 32174. Family will receive friends at Ormond Funeral Home 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach FL on Tuesday March 16th from 5:00 till 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 pm.

Mrs. Motley was born in Wayland New York on September 18 1919 and earned a bachelor''''s degree from Syracuse University. She moved to this area in 1952 from New York. She started work for the newspaper in 1952 as a reporter then worked as the publisher?s secretary before getting involved in the business side of operations. She organized a central purchasing system in the late 1950s and retired as purchasing director in December 1991. Mrs. Motley and her late husband Bob owned and operated an Ormond Beach gift shop for many years. Mrs. Motley was a member of the Humane Society board for many years and a former president of the organization. She was a lifelong animal lover who shared heart-warming pet stories with News?Journal readers for 40 years through her Aunt Mary?s Pet Talk column. She was an active member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in which she administered the Holy Eucharist to the sick and bed-ridden citizens of local nursing homes and residents in the Ormond Beach area. Mary reached out to so many people and to so many animals. She will be greatly missed by her family friends colleagues and animals.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert ?Bob? Motley and her dog DeDe. She is survived by her niece Roberta Curran Reid and husband Jeffrey W. Reid; great niece Jessica R. McRee; great-great niece Blaze Jewel McRee.
