Mary Freda Mosby passed away peacefully on March 19 2009 in the care of Oceanside Hospice of Florida Hospital Ormond Beach. A service in celebration of Mary's life will be held Saturday March 28 2009 at 1:00pm at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach. A private burial for the family will follow at Edgewater Cemetery. Born September 28 1927 in Oak Hill FL she was the daughter of Leonard L. Mosby Sr. and Muriel Kuebler Mosby. Mary graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School and moved to the Ormond area where she lived worked and retired. Mary's life was devoted to her family loving nurturing and treasuring her relationships. Her surviving sisters are Evelyn Linton of Daytona Beach Shores and Patricia Nelson of Ormond Beach. She was preceded in death in2003 by her brothers Leonard L. Mosby Jr. of Jacksonville and Donald K. Mosby of Satellite Beach. She cherished dearly her nine nephews and her one niece all of whom will have the memory of a loving Aunt Mary or Nana who brought the fun laughter play deviled eggs and chocolates to family get-togethers. Her genuine love caring interest and involvement in their lives will be forever treasured and deeply missed. She leaves behind her nine nephews: Evelyn's sons Scott and Clay Linton; Leonard's sons Leonard "Chip" Mosby III Blair Mosby David Mosby (Amy) Michael Mosby and Tim Mosby (Lindsey); Donald's son Don Mosby Jr. (Laura); Patricia's son and daughter Brian Nelson and Jennifer Nelson Poorbaugh (Steve) her one precious niece (and the pride of the cousins). The cousins' spouses and their children also carry fond and endearing memories of their Aunt Mary who didn't hesitate to love and dote on them with the same devotion and care she gave her nieces and nephews. As much as she gave and poured herself into the lives of her family it is remarkable that she became known for giving so much to her friends and colleagues. In her professional life Mary is remembered both for he dedication to her job and her loving devotion to all those who worked with her and around her through the years. In the 1950's she joined the administrative staff of Dr. John Hull Sr. and worked closely with him in the founding of Ormond Beach Osteopathic Hospital. She was thought of as a "total professional" in her efficiency and effectiveness in serving over 25 years as Executive Secretary to seven different hospital administrators. As the hospital grew in size and scope she played an integral part in obtaining certifications for expanding facilities and specialties for the addition of more doctors later becoming Peninsula Medical Center. Many of her coworkers became dear friends who loved and respected her as a "truly southern lady" by her style in dealing with the personal side of the hospital in the lives of its nurses doctors support stall and patients. She was a true servant characterized as the "pulse of the hospital" in not just the business side of things but caring deeply about those working with her with a genuine concern that left a lasting impact on the many lives she touched.
