Mary Jo began a life marked by hard work, kindness, creativity, and devotion to family and friends.

Mary Jo Tipton, 74, of DeLand, Florida, formerly of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, with her brother, Donn, and her cousin, Cheryl, by her side.

Mary Jo was born on April 5, 1952, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Robert C. and Doris L. Tipton, who preceded her in death.

A graduate of Western High School in Louisville in the early 1970s, Mary Jo began a life marked by hard work, kindness, creativity, and devotion to family and friends. In 1976, she moved from Louisville to Orlando, Florida, where she built a successful career as a billing administrator for a pathology company, serving for more than 35 years. She continued working for five years at Downtown Baptist Church in Orlando.

Mary Jo was a woman of deep faith. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Orlando and later attended Downtown Baptist Church.

Known for her caring and generous spirit, Mary Jo was always willing to lend a helping hand to neighbors and friends. She truly had a heart of gold and found great joy in making others feel loved and welcomed. She especially cherished the holidays and delighted in decorating her home, particularly at Christmas. Her remarkable Dickens Christmas Village was admired by all who saw it and reflected her creativity and artistic talent.

Mary Jo loved traveling and embracing new experiences. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, celebrating life’s special moments, and making lasting memories. One of her favorite places was Walt Disney World, where she found joy and wonder throughout the years. She was also a devoted animal lover and had a special affection for pets and wildlife alike.

In 2019, Mary Jo relocated to DeLand, where she continued to enjoy the friendships and community she had built throughout her life.

She is survived by her loving brother, Donn (Marilyn) Tipton of Sarasota, Florida; nine cousins; and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her greatly.

A funeral service will be held on September 24, 2026, at Louisville Memorial Funeral Home & Gardens in Louisville, Kentucky. Mary Jo will be laid to rest there beside her beloved family.

Mary Jo’s kindness, faith, generosity, and joyful spirit touched countless lives. Her memory will be treasured by all who knew and loved her.
