IN LOVING MEMORY OF
"Mary" Mary
Jane Ryan
January 4, 1948 – February 24, 2026
Mary Jane Ryan, 78, of Ormond Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. Born on January 4, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan. Mary lived a life defined by boundless love, fierce devotion, and an adventurous spirit that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. A dedicated mother of five, Mary or "MJ" poured herself wholeheartedly into raising her four sons and daughter, and later into the lives of her nine grandchildren, who knew her with the kind of deep affection that only a truly present grandmother can earn.
She traveled near and far to be at their sides, showering them with love💕 stories, and a lifelong love of learning. Her grandchildren were not just a chapter of her life — they were one of its greatest joys.
Mary carried an entrepreneurial spirit throughout her career. After years in various sales roles, she took a bold leap and founded her own home cleaning business, MJ's at Your Service! — a venture that reflected both her drive and her personal touch.
In retirement, she channeled that same energy into volunteerism, giving her time to the Ormond Beach Hospice and the Halifax Hospital Cancer Center, quietly making a difference in the lives of those facing their most difficult moments.
Her love of planning and adventure — from small everyday moments to grand journeys around the world — was a gift she shared generously with her family, and one they carry with them still.
Those who knew her well also knew of her tender affection for animals, particularly bunnies🐰, which seemed a perfect reflection of her gentle and nurturing heart.
Mary is survived by her son, Christian Ryan (wife, Sue Ryan); son, Kyle Ryan (wife, Beth Ryan); son, Kelly Ryan (wife, Maxine Ryan); son, Griffin Ryan (wife, Michelle Acres); daughter, Meghan Ryan (partner, Chan Lien); brother, James "Jim" Van Hulle (wife, Jeanette Van Hulle); sister, JoAnn Blann (husband, Peter Blann); sister, Catherine "Kate" Vincent; granddaughter, Emma Ryan; granddaughter, Maddie Ryan; granddaughter, Sophia Ryan; grandson, Declan Ryan; granddaughter, Fiona Ryan; grandson, Sidney Ryan; grandson, Pierson Ryan; granddaughter, Mikala Ryan; granddaughter, Scarlett Ryan; nephew, John Van Hulle; nephew, James Van Hulle, Jr.; nephew, Jeff Van Hulle; nephew, Jay Van Hulle; nephew, Jerry Van Hulle; niece, Margaret "Meg" Vincent; niece, Laura McCammack; Great Nephews and Nieces and Great Great Nephews and Nieces; and other extended family and friends!
Her widowed husband, Thomas Peter Ryan, passed away 10/3/2011.
Services will be held privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice care in her honor: https://halifaxhealth.org/hospice-information/give We suggest donations go to the Ormond Beach Care Center, where mom volunteered and where our father went for end of life care 15 years ago. (Many options are available for your choice to support). Arrangements have been entrusted to Lohman Funeral Home, Ormond Beach, FL.
Her memory will live on in the adventures we take, the dreams we chase, and the love we share with our families.
Her spirit will fly — and hop — along with us, always.
