Mary Louise Downs High, age 100, of Ormond Beach, FL, was called home on Friday, December 9, 2022, after passing away peacefully in AdventHealth Hospital, Daytona Beach, Florida. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Margaret Fischer of Lewes, DE, and her long-time caregiver, William Blankenship of Ormond Beach, FL. Mary was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. William Downs of Hagerstown, MD, her brother William Downs of Ormond Beach, FL, her husband Perry Fischer, her husband Richard Wolfensberger, and her husband Allen High.

Mary attended Hagerstown High School in Hagerstown, MD, achieving a straight-A record. She started her working career in a five-and-dime store, then was hired by Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown, where she was later promoted to the position of Executive Secretary for the President of Fairchild Aircraft. When Fairchild relocated, Mary moved to Ridley Park, PA, where she joined Boeing's Vertol Division. There Mary became the Executive Secretary for the Program Director in charge of Boeing's CH-47 Chinook heavy lift helicopter. She retired from Boeing after 15 years and moved to Port Orange, FL, then later to Ormond Beach, FL, where she lived in the same home for over 40 years.

Mary traveled extensively during her life, loved boating and cruises, and enjoyed her hobbies of bowling, golf, music, and bridge. After retirement, she joined the Tomoka Christian Church where she made many new friends who gathered to celebrate her 100th birthday days before her death. Having achieved her final goal in life, she closed her eyes one last time and returned to God.

A Celebration of Life Service led by Pastor Joe Putting will be held at Tomoka Christian Church on Monday, December 19, 2022 at 3:00 pm Private burial services in Hagerstown, MD, will be held at a later date.
