Henderson and Marjorie Ellen Henderson died May 31 2011. Mary lived most of her early years in Middlebury Connecticut. She graduated from Shepardson Grammer School in 1944 Woodbury High School in 1948 and the William W. Backus Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. She moved to Snyder N.Y. in 1951 where she worked at the Veteran's Hospital until 1957. Mary attended the University of Buffalo earning a B.S.N. in 1960 and an M.S.N in 1966. Employed by Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing as an instructor and Associate Director of the Nursing Program from 1960 to 1968. Mary moved to Daytona Beach in 1968 and Port Orange in 1976. Mary taught in the Daytona Beach Community College School of Nursing from 1968 to 1986. Mary was active in her community serving on the HOA Board of Directors and as chairman of several committees. She was a member of the American Nurses Assoc and National League for nursing for many years. She was a member of Port Orange United Church of Christ since its conception in 1982 where she served on the Deacons Board and chaired the Alter Guild for many years. She was very involved in her church and loved to watch it grow and change it brought her much joy and fulfillment. Mary lived her life in service to others. She loved to teach and work as a nurse. She was a loving giving person and will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Memorial Services will be June 26 2011 at Port Orange United Church of Christ at 651 Taylor Rd Port Orange Fl 32127 at noon with a reception to follow in fellowship hall.
