Obituary

Mary Ann Hay 78 of Ormond Beach passed away Tuesday February 10th.
Mary Ann was born in Ludlow Massachusetts and moved to Ormond Beach in 1969.

As one of the original members of the St. Brendan?s Catholic Church she drove the school bus for six years. Following this she found her true calling and worked in the golf pro shop at Tomoka Oaks Country Club and Indigo Country Club Pelican Bay Country Club and finally as pro shop manager of Plantation Bay Country Club.

Being an excellent golfer herself she agreed to direct the Volusia-Flagler Junior Golf Program on her day off. During the 25 years that she directed the program she became known as ? Mrs. Golf of Volusia County.? Many of her junior golfers have become productive adults and entered their children in her golf program. At the awards banquet each year she established the ?Sportsmanship Award? to honor a child who displayed more than just their golfing abilities.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years Thomas of Ormond Beach; her son Tom and his wife Lynn Hay of Holly Hill; and three grandchildren: Shawnee Hedges Shannon Hay and Scott Hay; a sister Fabiola Manning of Hampton GA; and a brother Louis Tardif of Las Vegas NV.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Brendan?s Catholic Church on Saturday February 21 at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Volusia-Flagler Junior Golf Association 533 N. Nova Road Suite 106-D Ormond Beach FL 32174.
