Mary Ann Franz, 95, of Ormond Beach, FL passed away September 25, 2015. Mary Ann was born October 30, 1919 in Detroit, Michigan to Michael and Bernice Fluder. At age 18, Mary Ann began her employment working for different factories. She married Sigmund Kanclerz and they started their family in Dearborn, MI. Mary Ann returned to work and particularly enjoyed her position at a fabric shop. She was in charge of the bridal department and assisted with all aspects of the shop. Mary Ann and Sigmund retired to Florida in 1980. In 1989, Sigmund passed away after 40 years of marriage. Mary Ann later married Edward Franz. They had 7 years together before his passing. Mary Ann will be remembered for her love of gardening, sewing, and reading. She enjoyed playing the card game Euchre. Mary Ann was a true fan of the Detroit Lions and University of Michigan Wolverines. She watched all of their football games.
Mary Ann was predeceased by two of her daughters: Michaeline Young and Nichola Kanclerz, and by a granddaughter, Barbara Sugiyama. She is survived by her daughter Patricia Thar (Timothy) and two grandchildren: Joanne Trout (Jack) and Roger Whitney (Shauna). A private funeral mass will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond.
