Mary B. Fox passed away peacefully at home on July3, 2017.
She was born in New Britain, CT. on August 13, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Margaret J. Beeman.
Mary was a graduate of Mt. St. Joseph Academy, West Hartford CT, in 1944, and The College of St Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ in 1948 where she received a B.S in Biology. After her graduation she worked at Sloan Kettering in NY.
In 1950, Mary married her childhood sweetheart Gerry Fox. They lived in Baltimore MD for five years, before moving to Whippany, NJ where they raised their family and resided for 37 years.
Mary began her teaching career in 1958 at Our Lady of Mercy School in Whippany, NJ where she taught several grade levels for many years. After her retirement from OLM, she continued her teaching career as a substitute teacher throughout Morris County, NJ. Mary and Gerry retired to Ormond Beach, FL in 1993. Mary recently moved back to Whippany to be closer to her family and lived with her daughter, Pat.
Mary enjoyed playing golf until the age of 88. She shot two holes-in- one during her last few years of playing. She was a previous member of Spring Brook Country Club in Morristown, NJ, River Bend Country Club and Oceanside Country Club, both in Ormond Beach, FL.
Mary was a member of St. Brendan the Navigator church in Ormond Beach, FL and a former member of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Whippany, NJ.
Mary was extremely proud of her Irish heritage and passed that pride down through several generations.
Mary was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and friend to all. There is nothing she wouldn't do for her family. She especially enjoyed the family gatherings at Christmas and spending time with her family in FL. She will be greatly missed by all.
Mary is predeceased by her devoted husband of nearly 60 years, Gerald R. Fox Sr. (2010). She is survived by her daughter Betsy Birch, Dover, NJ, son, Gerald R. Fox Jr. and his wife Meredith of Denville, NJ and daughter Patricia A. Gale of Whippany, NJ. She also leaves behind her eight grandchildren Brian Birch, Meghan Birch, Shaun Birch, Ryan Birch, Collin Birch, Caitlyn Birch, Connor Birch and Ryan Gale. She is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place at Lohman Funeral Home 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach, FL on Friday July 7, 2017 from 2-6pm.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Brendan the Navigator Church, 1000 Ocean Shore Blvd. Ormond Beach, FL on Saturday, July 8,2017 at 11:00 am. Internment to follow at Volusia Memorial Park, Ormond Beach, FL.
