Mary Deirdre (McNulty) Convery
Mary Deirdre was the eldest of three daughters of the Irish immigrants, Hugh McNulty of Carrickmacross, County Monaghan and Molly Murphy of Boyle, County Roscommon. Born in the Borough of Manhattan in New York City on February 21, 1930, the cataclysmic events of the Second World War and the Great Depression colored her formative years. Her two marriages blessed her with three sons, Michael Crofton, Kevin Patrick and Daniel Joseph. With loving support from her parents, she raised her sons as a single mother. Mary Deirdre earned a living in the banking industry and toiled her way into middle management. Relocating across the Hudson River in the mid-1960s, she made a home for her family in the Heights section of Jersey City. Mary Deirdre resided with her son, Dan and his wife Susan, in Central Florida for the last five years of her life. An ardent Roman Catholic, she witnessed to her Christian faith throughout her life. Always a loving presence, Mary Deirdre revered her parents and shared her love of life and abiding faith with her sisters, sons, nieces, nephews, their children, grandchildren and blended families. She strived to be a loving friend and active member of her Church communities. She engaged each person as a child of God and prayed daily for the living and the dead. She radiated joy. Mary Deirdre's beloved parents and her sisters, Theresa Trainor and Kathleen Jakubas and Kathleen's dear daughter,
Elaine Jeffers entered eternal life some years earlier. Mary Deirdre joined the eternal communion of saints on October 9, 2023. Her life continues to be celebrated in Florida, New Jersey, Nebraska, Colorado, California, Washington State and Hawaii by the Anderson, Barnett, Bowler, Castillo, Ceccato, Clark, Hardester, Holt, Jakubas, Jeffers, Lawliss, Newton, Russo, Sundack, Tagliaferro and Trainor families and many friends.
Mary Deirdre's Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 4000 S. Atlantic Avenue, New Smyrna Beach, Fl. 32169 on Friday, November 3, 2023 at 11 a.m. A Luncheon Reception will follow in the Social Hall. The celebration will continue at Dan and Sue's residence at 1684 Concert Road, Deltona, Fl. 32738. In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to the Human Service Ministry at Our Lady Star of the Sea, NSB.
