Mary J. Bostrom passed away on Sunday September 7 2008 after a brief illness.
A Visitation will be on Monday September 8 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Lohman Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00pm that's under the spiritual guidance of Rev. Richard Grasso. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday September 9 at 11:00 am at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Ormond. Interment will follow immediately at the family plot in Hillside Cemetery in Ormond Beach. After the services a gathering of family and friends will be held at the home of Jim and Bonnie Bostrom at 1118 Northside in Ormond Beach. Mary was born on September 3 1920 the only child of Lottie and Elmer Kelley in Chicago Illinois. There she attended Alvernia High School and worked as a secretary for a brief time after marrying on July 4 1941. She is survived by her husband of 67 years J. Donald Bostrom a citizen of Ormond Beach and six children: Donna Holm of Nova Scotia Ontario; John D. Bostrom Jr. of Staten Island New York; Robert K. Bostrom of Duxbury Massachusetts; Christine Golden and Thomas D. Bostrom both of Ojai California; and James J. Bostrom of Ormond Beach all of whom were with her in her final days. There are four grandchildren: Lauren Golden of Oakland California; Kiva Bitar of Portland Oregon; "Jack" Bostrom of Duxbury Massachusetts; and Philip Holm of Toronto Ontario; and three foster grandchildren: Joseph Alicia and Christine Bostrom of Staten Island New York. Mary was a victim of Alzheimer's disease and spent the last two years in Bridgeview Nursing Home in Ormond Beach. She spoke fluent German played the piano loved Bridge and other card games and was active in church and community. A devout Catholic homemaker wife and mother she was a joyful presence loved by everyone who knew her. She will be sorely missed.
