A Celebration of Life for Mary Norris Almond 92 of DeLeon Springs FL who went to be with Jesus on Saturday November 3 2007 will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday November 8th at First Baptist Church Daytona Beach. She is survived by her daughter Mary Ann Wilson and son-in-law Jack of DeLeon Springs and a son Richard P. Almond and daughter-in-law Debbie of Ormond Beach. Other survivors include six grandchildren: Johnie R. Wilson III (Dorothy) Tammy deGrom (Tony) Lori Thomason (Jimmy) Richard Almond II (Ann) Chris Smaglis (Ray) Kevin Bailey (Rebekah) and 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years Isaac Almond and brother James L. Froscher. Mary Norris was born on July 21 1915 in Titusville Florida the daughter of Norris and Mary Coleman Froscher. After graduating from Titusville High School and marrying her high school sweetheart in 1933 she and Isaac moved to Daytona Beach. Mary Norris was actively involved in Civil Defense during WWII and was a school patrol crossing guard at Volusia Avenue Elementary School. Graduating in 1962 as a Licensed Practical Nurse she worked for Dr. William Eyster until his death and then for Dr. John C. Long until her retirement in 1993. Mary Norris enjoyed playing bridge sewing knitting reading square dancing and gardening. She was a devoted wife mother grandmother and great grandmother. She received Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior in 1975 and as a result was involved in evangelism outreach and her Sunday school class. Her greatest joy was found in loving her family and faithfully serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
