Obituary

Marvin Emerson Smith, known to all of us as Marv, was born on September 9, 1941 in Cass City, MI to Charles and Luella Smith of Snover, MI. He went to his heavenly home on June 2, 2021 age 79 in the loving care of hospice and his family.

Preceded in death by his first wife Connie Smith in 2015, Marv is survived by his wife, Janice Brevard Smith, daughter Michelle Davis and husband Dion Davis of NC and son Mark Smith and wife Inge Bianca Smith of NC.  3 grandchildren: Mitchell Davis, Megan Prall and husband Jarrod Prall and Matthew Davis and fiancé Casey Reeve all of NC. His sister Elinor Loeding and husband Richard Loeding of MI along with 9 nieces and nephews in CA, MI and FL.

Marv was a 1960 graduate of Cass City High School where he played basketball and lettered in track and where he met his sweetheart, Colleen "Connie" Sheffer. After marriage and their first child, Marv moved the family to CA where he became a very successful businessman, in the furniture industry.  Together they opened a showroom and import furniture company and in 1995 Marv relocated the business and the entire family to High Point, NC.

In 2001 along with Connie, he moved to FL for semi-retirement.  They joined the Palm Coast United Methodist Church where they were active members. They were faithful in helping numerous missions and ministries at home and abroad throughout their lifetime in expanding the kingdom of God.

Marv was blessed by his friendships and respected by everyone he met. Most became part of his extended family for his lifetime.  He enjoyed playing golf, traveling, especially cruising, tasting good wines, and playing with his friend, Sam.

As Marv would say, "…and a good time was had by all."
