Marvin Laverne Knowles age 79 of Deland passed away after a long illness on Wednesday November 9 2011. A 10:30 AM visitation until a 12:00 PM funeral service will be held on Monday November 14 2011 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 1345 Aquarius Ave. Deland followed by an interment at Deland Memorial Gardens.

Marvin was born in Fairfax Alabama to James and Katie Knowles. He was a proud Vietnam and Korean War US Navy veteran and retiree after his service to our country he dedicated his talents to the wholesale produce industry. His devotion to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Deland was evident in his service as Bishop Stake President Mission President 2nd Counselor Temple Presidency Patriarch. He was a jovial patient kind "perfect" gentleman who was once a Golden Gloves Boxer enjoyed all sports especially golf and cheering on his favored Alabama Crimson Tide.

His parents and 3 siblings preceded him in death and he leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 53 years Dortha Knowles and 5 girls: Darlene (Paul) Cheesman Cynthia "Cyndie" Marriotti Laverne (Brett) Markovitz Sheila (Scott) Markovitz and Katie (Norman) Bouwhuis 2 siblings Billy (Mildred) Knowles and Estelle Knowles 15 grandchildren 9 great grandchildren and a loving extended church family.
