Obituary

Martin F. FitzGerald (Marty) 86 born on February 18 1924 in Manhattan NY passed away on Thursday December 30 2010. He retired from the NYC Police Department with 22 years of service. He served with the United States Coast Guard during World War II from 1942 to 1946 aboard the USS Gulfport doing convoy duty in the North Atlantic and Pacific Theaters of War. On the 1st of June 2004 while in Washington DC to attend the World War II Memorial Dedication ceremony his service was recognized by Admiral Pierce Johnson at the US Navy Memorial with a plaque in his honor. Served as Sergeant at Arms for 14 years with his beloved 10-13 Club of N.E. Florida a fraternal organization of Retired New York City Police Officers. He was a proud member of Chapter 84 of the Disabled Veterans of America. Martin is survived by his loving wife Joan M. (Bell) of 66 years daughter Joanne Bartolucci (Thomas) and sons Thomas (Janet) William (Leah) and Martin (Janet) five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Monday January 3rd at 11:00 am at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Florida Hospital Hospice Care 770 W.
