Martha Jean Griffis, 82, known as Marty by those who knew and loved her, passed away Friday, May 9, 2014 in Palm Coast.

Marty was born June 1, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio to Wesley and Jean Clark Horman. She grew up in Ohio and moved to Florida as teenager. She married Robert P. Griffis, and they raised five children together. Marty was a loving mom and a homemaker. She worked as an administrative assistant for a manufacturer's representative firm.

Marty and Robert retired and moved to Palm Coast in 1997 and soon became members of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Palm Coast. Marty's favorite things to do were traveling, being with her family, reading, bicycling, walking, yoga, and photography.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Thomas Horman, also of Palm Coast; and her grandson, Anthony Alexander of Cullowhee, NC. She is survived by her husband Robert Griffis; two sons Michael Griffis and wife Susan Knox Griffis of Evansville, IN, and William Griffis and wife Pamela Miller Griffis and daughter Megan of Cullowhee, NC; three daughters: Barbara Griffis of Tamarac, FL, Beverly Griffis and husband Dennis Macilwain and son Christian and daughter Elisabeth of Margate, FL, and Jean Griffis Barton and her husband Brett Barton and daughter Marina and son Drew of El Dorado Hills, CA.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday May 31, 2014 at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Palm Coast. Inurnment will be at Trinity Presbyterian Church's Columbarium in Palm Coast. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Trinity Presbyterian Church of Palm Coast. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Homes Palm Coast.
