Martha Elizabeth "Betty" Hosey, 81 of South Daytona went into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 8:55 the morning of July 7, 2014 at Halifax Health Medical Center. She was born July 4, 1933 in Macon, Georgia to Henry Lowe, Sr. and Martha Louise Lowe. She married Lowell Howard Hosey on December 29, 1954 and he predeceases her.

Surviving are her two daughters Deborah (Ray) Rutt Sr. of Port Orange and Lynne McGinnis of Edgewater. Two sons Mike (Cyndi) Hosey of Cornelius North Carolina and John (Bonnie) Hosey of Port Orange Florida; sister, Jean Rountry, Murrayville Georgia; cousin, Walker (Julie) Batts, Kalamazoo Michigan; grandsons Ray H. (Kara) Rutt Jr, Port Orange Florida; Jeremy Rutt Holly Hill Florida; Scott (Emma Kate) Hosey Charlotte North Carolina; Kyle Hosey New York New York and Michael McGinnis, Port Orange Florida. Granddaughters Courtney (Michael) Bursich; Cornelius North Carolina; Ashleigh Rutt, Union Town New Jersey; Jenny (Myles) Lawler, Edgewater Florida; Katelyn (Luke) Carter, San Clemente California; Alexa Hosey ,Murray Kentucky; Heather McGinnis, Edgewater Florida; Hannah Hosey, Charlotte North Carolina. Seven great grandchildren; Riley and Ruby Rutt, Emma and Reed Lawler, Ella and Sadie Bursich and Thomas Carter. A nephew, Alan Rountry, Murrayville Georgia and cousin and friend, Patricia Scarnici, Harwichport Massachusetts.
Martha's mother, Martha Christie and adoptive father, Arthur Christie precede her in death.

Martha was a graduate of Seabreeze High School. June 27 1952 she joined the Army and received several medals in riflery. May 26, 1954 at the rank of Corporal she was discharged honorably. She met and married the love of her life, L. Howard Hosey at the Navy base that he was stationed in GA. They lived in Brunswick, GA and then moved to Daytona Beach and then to Chicago. After a short period of time in Chicago they moved to Duxbury Massachusetts. She stayed there raising their four children and she was involved helping with Girl Scouts and church activities. After about 15 years they moved back to the Daytona Beach area where she continued to volunteer in the children's various activities, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and many sports activities. She enjoyed playing the piano, sewing, knitting, oil painting, gardening., going to the beach and most of all fishing. After joining First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, she taught five year old Sunday school for many years. She held various jobs but most of all being a wife and mother. She enjoyed going to visit family in the mountains of North Carolina .She loved camping there and developed a love of photography. She was also an avid sports fan. She loved NASCAR, Orlando Magic and the Miami Dolphins. She loved Gospel and country music she was most proud of her children and grandchildren... After losing her husband of 52 years her constant companion was her beloved dog "Buddy".

The Family wishes to extend their gratitude to the friends and neighbors that were so helpful and generous these past several years.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church, 118 North Palmetto Avenue, Daytona Beach, Florida 32114.

A brief gathering will be held from 9:30 - 10:00 A.M. Saturday July 12, with a memorial service celebrating Martha's life to follow at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Jason Leschitz officiating at Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange, 1201 Dunlawton Avenue, Port Orange Florida.
