Martha B. Haughney 94 of Palm Springs CA passed away in her home on November 12 2012 surrounded by pictures of her family and friends. Martha was Born November 30 1917 in Alden PA to Pearl (Rudowski) and Simon Bashnianyn the youngest of eight children.
After her graduation from Newport HS and Business School Martha became a very successful Purchasing Director for Women's apparel for the HUB Department store in Wilkes-Barre PA. On August 22 1943 she married the love of her life Emmett R. Haughney. They were married for fifty-seven years until Emmett's passing in September 2000.
A devoted wife proud mother loving grandmother aunt and friend Martha is survived by her children: Bob (Leslie); Kathryn; Terry (Fran) and her grandchildren Jamie Skloss and Kate also many cousins nieces nephews and countless friends. Martha was preceded in death by her husband parents and siblings.
Martha led a truly wonderful life and was involved in numerous charitable organizations supporting her husband children community and church.
Martha and Emmett were snowbirds from 1980-1987 living in both Miami Beach FL and Mountaintop PA before finally settling in Ormond-by-the-Sea in 1987. Martha relocated to CA to live with her son Bob in 2006.
The Visitation will be held at Lohman's Funeral Home Ormond on Wednesday November 28 2012 from 5-7pm. A Memorial Mass will be held at St Brendan's Catholic Church Ormond Beach FL on Thursday November 29 2012 at 10am. Following the service Martha will be laid to rest alongside her beloved Emmett at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell FL.
