Martha Friedman age 91 of New Smyrna Beach FL passed away on Friday May 13 2011 at her residence. There will be a visitation on Monday May 16 2011 from 10-11am at the LOHMAN FUNERAL HOME PORT ORANGE with a graveside service to follow at DAYTONA MEMORIAL PARK at 11:30am. Martha was born in New York City New York on October 16 1919 to her parents Luigi Vigilante and Elizabeth Barbano. Martha graduated from Seward Park High School High School in New York. Martha was an extraordinary woman growing up during the great depression and lived many years in Forest Hills caring for her husband and children before moving to Sea Cliff Long Island until 2001. Martha was a phenomenal cook avid book reader and enjoyed sitting in the sun with her friends when she moved to Sun Beach Club (NSB). She was a loving wife mother grandmother and great grandmother. Martha is preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years Sol Friedman. She is survived by three sons; Michael Friedman and his companion Jennifer Weller; Richard Friedman and his wife Susana; and Phillip Friedman and his wife Kim; her six grandchildren Robert Nancy Jeffrey David Rachel Jacob and step-grandchild Gabriella; five great grandchildren Jack Claire Sophia Mathew and Samantha; One Sister Renee Babenzien. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Mayo Clinic. Arrangements are under the entrusted care of Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange.
