Martha Mae Andrews also known as Marty passed away peacefully on September 14, 2023 at her home at Coquina Cay in New Smyrna Beach FL.
Born and raised in Duquesne, PA, Marty attended Duquesne High School and was a member of the cheerleading squad. The squad's motto was
"Come on Dukes" Sock it to em." And this was only the beginning of her adventurous life.

While in Pittsburgh, PA, Marty worked as a corporate secretary and then relocated to Port Orange, FL. What a spitfire she was! Not only did Marty start a new career at Daytona Beach Community College (DBCC) as a librarian and book buyer, but she played golf, dabbled in karate, traveled the high seas, played the slot machines, and provided home cooked meals and ice cream desserts for her poodles.

Marty's most memorable times were: cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers to victory, dining as a pilgrim on Thanksgiving, decorating her home as a winter wonderland for Christmas; feasting on Virginia spiral ham at Easter, getting a hair perm for her weekend events, and walking her poodles while praying to the "Man Upstairs."

Even after Marty's retirement from DBCC, she could not sit still. As an enthusiastic member of the Eagles, she promoted Caribbean Cruises which resulted in sold out ticket sales. Marty loved the Eagles so much that she had a stone statue of an Eagle mounted in her front yard at her home in Port Orange, FL.

In her 99 years, Marty had many roles: a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother, a friend, a co-worker, a dog walker, and as the little mayor of Coquina Cay. Always Generous, Always Caring, and Always Loving.

Marty is survived by her son James Andrews and Laura DeMaria, grandchildren Phillip Andrews and his wife Carol, John Andrews and Jenna Andrews, great granddaughter Maddie Andrews, and many nephews, nieces, and great friends.

Marty was predeceased by her parents John Walker and Edith Robis, her son Robert Andrews, sisters LaRue Axelson, Betty Adams, and Myra Yuna, and her long term companions Jim McDonough and Hank Kelly.

Friends will be received at Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange, 1201 Dunlawton Avenue, Port Orange, FL. from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, September 20. The funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Hope, 4675 S Clyde Morris Boulevard, Port Orange, FL at 8:30 am on Thursday, September 21.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Jude Children's Hospital.

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Marty's caregivers at Coquina Cay and Kindred and Haven Hospice.
