Obituary

Mario Signorelli Sr 85 of Port Orange left us on Monday February 14 2011. A viewing celebration and remembrance of his life by his friends and family will be held Friday February 18th from 1pm - 2pm at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona and services are to follow in the adjacent gardens at Daytona Memorial Park Cemetery. Mario was born on September 25 1925 to the late Angelina and Giuseppe Signorelli. He was married in 1944 to the late Ramona Signorelli and although he and Ramona were married young their love and dedication to their family and one another continued to persevere for more than 50 years until her death in 1995. He will long be remembered as a very loving father who easily made friends from the time he was a young man always finding time to bring a smile to a child's face and display a trademarked colorful personality to anyone who had been lucky enough to meet him. While he was a consummate cook and would volunteer that task without hesitation he also owned many restaurants in his lifetime including some that are in business to this day 40 years later still using his recipes. Mr. Signorelli and his late wife Ramona with their daughter Sandra and her then husband Joe Grabowski came here in 1975 and opened the Family Deli in the Daytona mall to the delight of the mall business owners and local patrons. Ramona and Mario were also the former owners of Signorelli's Elderly Care Home in Harbor Oaks until their retirement in 1993. Mario enjoyed horse racing and dog racing and was a member of the Daytona Beach Kennel Club. He also enjoyed playing cards lottery and entertaining friends. Mario who will reside in eternity beside his loving wife Ramona Signorelli is preceded in death by his parents and sisters Margaret Mueller and Minnie Papo. Mario leaves behind his children son Mario (Jade) Signorelli Jr of AZ daughters Sandra (Benito) Marisagan of FL Dorothy(Frank) Capan of OH Angela(Karim) Ali of FL and Mona(Danny) Signorelli of AZ thirteen grandchildren nine Great Grandchildren brothers John (Martha Jane) Signorelli of OH and Anthony (Alice) Signorelli of OH sister Rosie Crow OH. Mario will be remembered and missed by his dearest of friends from childhood and companion for almost 14 years Dorothy Jaklitsch of FL and her 4 children 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild who over this time have come to know him as Mr. Mario and eventually papa. The family would like to acknowledge the contribution that has been made by former son in law Kenneth Presley to this service and extended family members and close friends that have not been mentioned.
