Mario Stefan Paul passed away on June 2, 2021 from complications of a short but courageously fought battle with cancer.

Born in Munich, Germany on August 12, 1963 Mario grew up in Hanau, Germany.  He was devoted to his parents, Fleurino Tosi and Elise Paul Tosi whom he lovingly helped care for throughout their lives.

After many journeys across the Atlantic Ocean on holiday, he and 2 of his siblings, Claudia and Angela, made America their home.  There, he became a naturalized US citizen in 2006.

Throughout his life, Mario enjoyed many professional endeavors including wholesale account manager at Degussa Dental Corp where he met lifelong friend, Jürgen Magister.  His love for animals lead him to open a pet sitting service.  An interest in all things mechanical sent him on the road to become an auto mechanic.  He and his sister Angela owned a business, The Mail Stop, where he and his precious Yorkie, Dina, met the love of his life, Patti Lanier.

Moving to Daytona Beach in 2019 was about being close to family and his heaven on earth – the ocean.  He was able to spend quality time with his best friend and sister Claudia, wife Mary and niece Alida Paul who were incredibly special to him.  Although his sister, Angela, and husband Nick and brother Werner and his family in Italy were not close geographically, they were always close in heart.

Mario had a kind and generous spirit and always lent a helping hand to anyone who needed it.  Kids and animals adored him – he found time to play with them and they found a friend in him.  Having lost his mother and father, Mario adopted his in-laws, WT and Doris Lanier, as his own.  He found joy and fulfillment in helping support them, no task ever too large or too small.

With a passion for the ocean, Mario enjoyed anything to do with the water, including scuba diving, boating, swimming, surf fishing.  He often commented "we come from the ocean, we return to the ocean".  The day before his death he spent the afternoon at the beach, gazing at the ocean and talking with "his girl", Patti.  His ashes will be scattered in the ocean with Patti's upon her passing.

Mario is survived by his wife of 22 years, Patti Lanier, of Daytona Beach; sister Claudia Paul, wife Mary, and niece Alida of Orlando; sister Angela Patel, husband, Nick, niece Paula Musso-Simeone, grand-nieces Lauren Musso and Givannah Simeone of Virginia; brother, Werner Burger, wife, Rosie, niece Ingrid Burger and husband, Claudio, grand-nephew Thomas, niece Alida Burger , husband Luigi and grand-niece Sara of Sirmione, Italy.

Also survived by close relatives, Doris Lanier, mother-in-law; sister-in-law and husband, Debbie and Dennis Kade of Daytona Beach and daughters, Elizabeth and Lauren Kade; brother-in-law and wife, William Lynn Lanier, wife Carol and nieces and nephew Hillary, Rachel and Lanier of Memphis; Mike and Cecelia Marie Murphey and Stella Bell also held a special place in his heart.

A service of remembrance will be celebrated by the ocean at a later date.
