During the early morning hours of Thursday, February 29, 2024, our dear mother, Marilyn Ruth Chaffee, passed from this life and was carried gently into the arms of Jesus. She was 88. We miss her company and mourn her loss. However, we are comforted that she is reunited with our dad, Dr. Vincent W. Chaffee, her parents, Hubert and Ferne Hatcher, her maternal grandmother, Vina Schlick, and many other family and friends who preceded her in death.

Mom was born in Daytona Beach, FL on 02/22/1936. She attended Stetson University, worked as an elementary school teacher in Holly Hill, FL, married and had 2 children. Although she lived in many states with her family, it was always her dream to return to her native Florida, which she did in 2008. She loved attending activities at Stetson, spending time with family, gardening, going to the beach, and playing the piano.

Mom leaves behind her son, Vincent S. Chaffee, of DeLand, FL, and her daughter, Elizabeth Mehnert and husband Kenneth Mehnert, of Sand Springs, OK.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Daytona Memorial Park, Daytona Beach, FL.
