Marie Elaine Yost was born September 30, 1920, to John H. Yost and Blanche Jones Yost in Topeka, Indiana.  She passed away December 29, 2017, at Bishop's Glen where she had been a resident for the past several years.

Marie moved to Daytona Beach in 1938 after graduating from Topeka High School.

She began working at Halifax District Hospital first as an elevator operator and then moved to the diet kitchen where under the direction of her friend and mentor of many years, Ruth Daniel, she became Supervisor of Commodity Purchases, the position she held as she completed her 45 year career.

She enjoyed reading, gardening, and traveling, as well as activities at her church, First Presbyterian Church of Daytona, where she was a member for many years.

She was predeceased by her parents, her twin sister, Myrle A. Carpenter, half brother, Lyle Simpson, and half sisters, Faye S. Langworthy, and Lena S. Parrish, and her nephew, Robert Carpenter.

Survivors included niece Anita Parrish Emery locally and nephew Donald R. Parrish (Molly) of New York; niece Karen L. Geidner and nephew Tom Carpenter of Indiana, as well as several special great nieces and nephews and devoted local long time friends Deena K. Delany and Betty Ann Baldwin.

Her family wishes to thank the staff, nurses and aides of Bishop's Glen for their thoughtful long term care, as well as Vitas Hospice for making her last few days peaceful and comfortable.

Her memorial service will be at Lohman Chapel, 1423 Bellevue Avenue on Thursday, January 11 at 1 p.m. with The Reverend William Anderson, First Presbyterian Church, officiating.
