Marie J. Maynard 86 of Ormond Beach passed away on July 10 2010. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday July 13 2010 at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond 733 W. Granada Blvd. The family will begin receiving guests at 4pm; the service will start at 5pm.
Marie was born in Jersey City New Jersey on February 24 1924 to Salvatore Fogu and Antoinette Riccardi. She enjoyed reading cooking large Italian diners television taking trips to Las Vegas and entertaining friends and family.
Marie was the first woman police officer in Hialeah Florida. She enjoyed working for the police department and the many opportunities it presented her with. She traveled to Washington D.C. to study with the FBI taking a course in Narcotics training.
Most of all she was proud of how she raised her family. Marie was a wonderful mother grandmother and great grandmother; she always put others before herself and found a friend in all. Marie always had a smile on her face and will be greatly missed but always remembered.
She will be greatly missed by her sons John (Connie) Cernuto of Las Vegas NV; Buddy Cernuto of Ormond Beach FL; daughter Elaine (Kailan) Durrance of Port Orange FL; grandchildren Diana (Todd) Reed of Ormond Beach FL; Deborah Cernuto Of Las Vegas NV; Tony Cernuto of Las Vegas NV; David (Danielle) Lynch of Port Orange FL; Christopher (Jacqueline) Cernuto of Las Vegas NV; Michael (Kelly) Cernuto of Las Vegas Jade Sherrill of Las Vegas nine great grandchildren as well as many extended family members and friends.
Marie is preceded in death by her husband David Maynard parents Salvatore and Antoinette Fogu brothers Peter Fogu John Fogu and sister Jean Schmidt.
