Marie Bocchiaro 83 of Port Orange passed away April 20 2009. A visitation is scheduled for Thursday April 23rd from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona. A funeral service will be held Friday April 24th at 1:00 pm at Our Lady of Lourdes with burial to follow at Daytona Memorial Park.

Marie was born December 30 1925 in Brooklyn NY to Anthony and Hilda Briganti. She spent her life as a homemaker and also as a classroom aide in the field of education. Marie was totally devoted to her students and her children was active with the Democratic Party in voter registration activities established many wonderful family traditions which are still carried out today and was a gifted cook particularly in the area of Italian cuisine. She moved to Florida in 1979 from Freeport Long Island NY.

Marie is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years Frank and her children: Sandy (Dex) Matheson of Long Island Marianne Murphy and Ray Melendez of Coral Springs Toni Bocchiaro of Port Orange Frank Bocchiaro of Long Island and Mark (Kathleen) Roden of Ft. Myers. A sister Mildred Ptak of Ridgefield Park NJ also survives.
