Marianne M. Gray, 80 of Port Orange, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on January 2, 2022.

Marianne was born in Darmstadt, Germany on December 7, 1941. She met her future husband Larry in 1960 when he was in Germany with the USAF. When he was discharged in September 1960, they made arrangements for her to come to the US in early 1961, and were married in February. They had been married almost 61 years at the time of her passing.

She is survived by her husband Larry; daughter, Lori or Port Orange; son, Steve of Mt. Dora; two grandchildren in Minnesota; and, a sister Ortrud, brother Georg, and nephew Mirko, all of Germany.

The family grew up in Wyandotte, Michigan for six years; San Juan, Puerto Rico for two years; Miami for 21 years; and then Port Orange for 31 years, moving only when Larry's job required it. Marianna and Larry settled in Port Orange when he retired in 1990.

Marianne was employed at Burdines/Macy's for 31 years and retired in 2007. During that time, she earned many honors for sales and service, both on the local and national levels. Many of her customers became friends and have remained so because of the personal service that they received.

Marianne loved to walk and was a member of the Happy Wanderers walking club for many years until her health forced her to give it up. She still went for walk locally whenever she could.

She will be missed by all who knew her.

A visitation will be held Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 6:00 pm at the Port Orange Chapel of Lohman Funeral Homes.
