Marian Stewart passed away November 15, 2013, and is happily reunited with her family and husband. Marian was born Marian Dolores Marchitiello on Jan. 31, 1928 in Martinez (Richmond), CA to Donato and Marietta (nee Ciricillo) Marchitiello, who were originally from Italy.

She was the youngest of ten children, and was nicknamed Chickie by her family. In 1946 she married Louis J. Pollitz in Daytona Beach. She was very resourceful and talented, making clothes for herself and their daughter from cut-off pant legs she got from a tailor. Marian was a self-taught artist and liked to make arrangements out of forest items on walks in the woods. Her son was subjected to wearing many funny Halloween costumes also.

Marian's childhood motivated her to further her education and work ethic. In 1962 she completed her GED, and worked in the cafeteria at Riverview Elementary from 1965 to 1967. Afterward, she became lunchroom manager at North Ridgewood Elementary. She married Benjamin Donald Stewart in 1965. He supported Marian in continuing her education and received her Certificate of Cosmetology from Mary Karl Vocational Division in 1968. Marian then received her Teaching Certificate from University of South Florida, Tampa, FL in 1973, and was a cosmetology instructor for Daytona Beach Community College from 1973 - 1978. She was a devoted teacher who was dearly loved by her students, and respected by her co-workers. In 1974 she received a certificate as a Nurse's Aide from DBCC.

Having a passion to continue in the field of cosmetology, she owned Broadway Beauty Salon and Holiday Beauty Salon, and had a faithful following of patrons for many years. After retirement, she was the early-morning donut baker for Perry's Ocean Edge Motel.

Marian was a devoted mother who put her children first so they wouldn't do without like her own childhood. Marian is predeceased by siblings Grace Biele, Nichola (Nick) Marchitiello, Rose Russ, Margaret Sackett, Biagio (Bill) Marchitiello, Julia Fowler, Allessandro (Al) Marchitiello, Marcia Marchitiello. She is survived by her sister Jen Denney, daughter Tonia Pollitz (Riley Babcock), son Mark Pollitz and grandsons Brian and Micah Pollitz all of Volusia County, stepson Jerry Stewart (Linda), Orlando, FL, plus relatives in California & Canada.
