Marian B. Habermann 85 died September 16 2013. She was the wife of Rudolph Habermann Jr. of Ormond Beach and the mother of Mr. Kim Q. Habermann of Falls Church VA.
Marian was born in Detroit Michigan June 7 1928 daughter of Bruce Buchanan and Louise deKraker Buchanan. She grew up in the Magnolia subdivision of Southfield Township Oakland County Michigan completing high school in Ann Arbor Michigan. She continued her education at the University of Michigan earning a BA degree in 1949 majoring in English Literature. She married Rudy July 24 1949. Marian had part time employment in libraries at the University of Michigan Falls Church VA and Ormond Beach FL. She worked full time for several years in the (classified) Document Library at the GE Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory near Schenectady NY.
Marian moved many times as Rudy's job changed: Schenectady NY; Syracuse NY; Bethesda MD; Ormond Beach FL; New Canaan CT; North Palm Beach FL; Southbridge MA; Falls Church VA; Wayne PA. They returned to Ormond Beach on Rudy's retirement. Singing brought joy to her life: High School chorus senior choir First Methodist Church Choral Union in Ann Arbor MI and choir at Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church. Her organizational activities included American Association of University Women in Schenectady and Syracuse NY; Newcomers Club in McLean VA New Canaan CT and Chesterbrook PA; and the Symphony Guild in Daytona Beach.
Marian was predeceased by her sister Margaret (Peg) Yates of Alexandria VA. Surviving relatives include her husband Rudy son Kim and her cousins Richard Buchanan of Mount Prospect IL and Robert Buchanan of Ann Arbor MI.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday November 2 2013 at 11am at Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church 105 Amsden Rd. Ormond Beach FL. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. Condolences may be shared with the family through this online guestbook.
