Maria Mercedes Serrano Rodriguez, 78, of Port Orange, FL, passed away in her sleep: called by Heaven on August 23, 2016. Wife of Jose L. Rodriguez for 60 years and mother of their seven children. She said her best times were spent raising her children when they were all at home. She was blessed again when she could help with her grandchildren. She loved cooking, traveling, flowers (Gardenia's were her favorite), gardening and taking long walks and meeting new people; avid movie and Hollywood follower. Maria was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico on November 18, 1937. She married Jose on September 18, 1955 and moved to New London, CT. There she was an active parent assisting at the local schools. They lived in New London until their retirement in 1997 moving to Port Orange, Florida where they resided since. She was predeceased by two of her children Charles Rodriguez (Columbia, SC) and Richard Rodriguez (Puerto Rico), she leaves her husband Jose L Rodriguez and their children Irma M. Saucier and her son Harold Saucier III, Julia Rodriguez, Joseph L. Rodriguez and spouse Theodore J Stupack, David Rodriguez and his wife Teresa and their daughter Telisha and Great Granddaughter Trista, and daughter Gloria E. Imbimbo and her husband Michael Imbimbo and their two children Vincent and Nicholas Imbimbo. She is survived by her sister Gloria Vasquez and her husband and children, and many cousins, nephews and nieces
