Maria Esther Ocasio Rivera 87 of Deltona Florida went to meet the Lord on April 10 2013. Beloved
daughter sister wife mother grandmother and great-grandmother she lovingly dedicated her life to
taking care of her family. A lifelong Seven Day Adventist she also cherished her relationship with
God and fellow church members throughout her life. Born in Naguabo Puerto Rico in 1925 she moved
to New York but always kept her homeland close to heart.
An avid novela watcher home gardener/landscaper and excellent cook her dinner and desert recipes
made the holidays in Spanish Harlem and the Bronx memorable and festive gatherings. In her inviting
kitchen one could always find Breyer's vanilla ice cream or an assortment of pies or cakes to satisfy
any sweet tooth. She truly lived the values of a considerate and generous Christian and would give
what she had if you were in need. A hard worker within and outside of her home her strong heroic
spirit will not be forgotten and the Rivera family will never be the same. The glue that held an
immediate and extended family of four generations together (as well as her adored Chihuahua pet and
companion Chico) her loss is immeasurable.
Maria Esther is survived by her children Carmen Frank Maria and Haydee; her grandchildren Israel Jr
Carla Jessica Francesca and Carlene her great-grandchildren Jaidon Makaela and Jaliyah.
