Maria Lozicki , age 95 of New Smyrna Beach, Fl passed away in her sleep Sunday morning, 18 April, 2021 at home. Memorial service will be held at the Church of the Epiphany in Port Orange at 11 o'clock on 4 May 2021. Burial will be at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Collinsville, Illinois.
Maria was born in Hrywiatki, Poland to Jan and Anastazia Segieda on 14 February 1926. Her education was cut short by the outbreak of World War II and her family being taken to a work camp in Siberia in 1940. She joined the Polish Army under British control in 1942 in order to get out of Siberia and was stationed in England. She became an instructor in the Army and was promoted to Sergeant. While in England she met Jozef Lozicki an officer in the Polish Army under British control, they were married in Westerlon, Germany on 26 October 1946. Unable to return to Poland, they lived in England until 1961 when the family immigrated to the United States and settled in East St Louis, Illinois. She worked at Macy's in St Louis as a French pastry decorator before moving to Orlando in 1999.
Maria is preceded in death by her parents, her devoted husband Jozef who passed away in 1989, and all her brothers, (Jozef, Mietek, Bolek and Kazik) and sisters (Zosia and Janina). Maria is survived by her son, Ryszard and wife Karen of New Smyrna Beach, FL, daughter Urszula and husband Doug of Ponce Inlet, FL, Grandsons Jozef, Robert and Adam, Granddaughters Courtney and Tonda, great-Granchildren Logan, Drake, Addison, Austin and Chad, great great-Grandson Cole Evan. Nephew Art Segieda and numerous other nephews and nieces in Poland and England.
The family of Maria wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr Coady from the Daytona VA Blue Team, CSI Caregiver, Lisa Seawright and the VITAS Hospice team. The family requests donations to Hospice in lieu of flowers.
