Maria Enedina Jimenez age 82 of DeLand passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday October 7 2010 at Halifax Hospice of Volusia Flagler. A memorial service in her honor will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday October 12 2010 at the DeLand Memorial Gardens Chapel followed by an inurnment. Maria was born in the Dominican Republic to Melida Polanco. She worked diligently for many years and came to live in Boston Massachusetts in 1963. She dedicated her life's work as a seamstress and devoted mother. In her youth she shared her beautiful voice with the people in her community on the radio. Marias mother and a grandson preceded her in death and she leaves behind to cherish her memory three children: Ramon (Jean) Polanco of DeLand Raymond (Lourdes) Polanco of Puerto Rico and Carmen Jimenez of DeLand; two sisters Mercedes Terrones and Maria Mejia; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and many loving extended family.
