Peggy B. Schafer-Roberts , age 59, died on January 5, 2016, in Port Orange, Florida. Peggy is survived by her husband Steve Roberts, her daughters Cheyenne and Tracy, and her four sons Neal, Jourdan, Tyler, and Jeremiah.
Peggy was born on June 4, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois to parents Roger and Patricia Schafer and raised in Michigan. She graduated from Central Michigan University with a degree in Education. She moved to Florida and accepted a job at Shands hospital. Eventually, she would become a teacher for the Volusia county school board, working with disabled children from elementary to middle school age. After moving to Port Orange, she became a foster parent and has been a loving parent to nearly 300 children of all ages. Peggy adopted Cheyenne, her first child, on September 26, 2002. She married Steve Roberts on October 16, 2010, joining the two families.
Peggy was a loving, caring woman who was loved by all she met. She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and The Living Cornerstone. She loved the Lord. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, and helping others. She will be remembered as someone who would always put the needs of others above her own.
A viewing will be held at Lohman Funeral Home 1201 Dunlawton Ave. in Port Orange on Monday, January 11, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Port Orange.
