Marguerite Ann McDonnell 71 of Ormond Beach Florida passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 25 2011. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her death.

Marguerite was born in Bridgeport Connecticut on October 14 1939 to Joseph L. Salamon and Wilhelmina J. Salamon. She was married to Robert P. McDonnell. The couple was preparing to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary.

Marguerite graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in education. She lived in Trumbull Connecticut until 1972 when she relocated with her family to Ormond Beach.

Marguerite worked as an elementary school teacher both in Connecticut and in Florida but her primary occupation was to be a loving mother and a devoted grandmother. After her children were grown Marguerite worked for many years in the home health field for Gentiva Health Care. Marguerite's passion was her volunteer work as a home health aid with Hospice of Volusia County/Flagler. During her whole life she was a source of strength and encouragement to many people. As a Hospice volunteer she used those gifts to bless others.

Marguerite is survived by her loving husband Robert daughter Sharon Dobbs (Bleckley) son Robert McDonnell Jr. (Maureen) daughter Eileen Poss (David) and six grandchildren Elizabeth Caroline Christine Clare William and Daniel.

Marguerite also is survived by her two sisters Janet Farrell (Windsor Connecticut) and Mary Curry (Trumbull Connecticut) and many nieces nephews and cousins.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Friday January 28 2011 at St. Brendans Roman Catholic Church 1000 Oceanshore Boulevard Ormond Beach. Internment will follow in Volusia Memorial Park 550 North Nova Road Ormond Beach. Her family will receive friends from 4-7 P.M. on Thursday January 27 2011 in the Chapel at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond.

Memorial donations may be made in Mrs. McDonnell's name to Hospice of Volusia County/Flagler 3800 Woodbriar Trail Port Orange Florida 32129.
