Margie Maple 84 of Bunnell passed away November 19 2008 at Florida Hospital Flagler. A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday November 25th from 5-7 pm and funeral services will be held Wednesday November 26th at 10 am at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. Entombment will follow at Daytona Memorial Park in Daytona Beach. She was born August 5 1924 to Holger and Maggie Kofr in Chattanooga TN. She moved to Florida in 1952 from Chattanooga with her husband of 30 years Alton L. Maple who predeceased her.
Margie was active in a number of areas including singing with the Sweet Adelines Chorus reading and all forms of nature including birdwatching. She was also very involved with music as a guitarist songwriter and owned her own recording label Maple Lane Publishing Company. And Margie was a big fan of the University of Florida Gators and the University of Tennessee Vols. Survivors include her son Tom (Bessie) Thompson of Bunnell a brother Robert R. Kofr of Poteau OK and a sister Velma Ruth Rider of Knoxville TN. Three grandchildren also survive: Myra J. Gresham of Ridgeway SC; Tommy (Andrea) Thompson Jr. of Bunnell; and Melanie (Mike) Scarol of Palm Coast. Four great-grandchildren also survive: Sarah Scarol of Palm Coast and Brett Lora and Ella Thompson of Bunnell as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family also wants to recognize some very special friends: Karen Reynolds Julian and Dora Lopez and Raoul and Bertha Lopez. She was known as "Grandma" to Julian Jr. Nancy Maria and Bertica Lopez.
