IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margarita
Santana

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Margarita Ocasio-Santana, 85 years old, on March 11, 2025, in Deltona, Florida. Born in Carolina, Puerto Rico on June 10th, 1939. Margarita's life was a testament to strength, love, and dedication. In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated.
Margarita's journey began in Puerto Rico, where she lived until the age of 18 before relocating to Brooklyn, New York. There, she worked in the factories of Brooklyn for several years before making the courageous decision to move with her two young children to The Bronx. In the heart of one of the toughest neighborhoods during the 1970's, Margarita's love and resilience as a mother helper raise her children amidst the challenges they faced. She was a beloved figure in her community, deeply respected by her neighbors and friends, many of whom she has known for over 60 years. Her surviving friends Alicia, and Carmen.
For much of her life, Margarita worked as an in-home childcare provider. She poured her heart into caring for the children in her community, building lasting relationships with the families she served. She had an innate gift for teaching and nurturing, and all who knew her remember her with affection for the love, care and wisdom she shared. Margarita made a profound impact on the lives of so many children, and her legacy of compassion will live on in them.
Margarita is preceded in death by her beloved husband, with whom she shared 44 years of her life, Higino Santana; and her cherished daughter, Evette Colon. She is survived by her devoted son, Nelson Colon Jr., of Deltona Florida; her surviving grandchildren: Kalani Nelson Colon, Daniel Nelson Colon, Tracey Marie Respeto, Adrian Nelson Colon, Katalina Colon, Jazzabel Margarita Colon, Jason Caban, and Erick Caban.
Her passing leaves a void in the lives of her family and friends, but her love, strength, and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will forever be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and friend, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to be touched by her.
Mother
The precious word is MOTHER,
She was my world you see,
But now my heart is breaking
Cause she's no longer here with me.
God chose her for his angel
To watch me from above,
To guide me and advise me
And know that I am loved.
