Margaret Dunn Withers of Ormond Beach died at the age of 87 on Friday June 24 2011.
A visitation will be held from 6pm until 8pm on Tuesday June 28 2011 at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona. Funeral Services will begin at 11am on Wednesday June 29 2011 in the chapel of Lohman Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow at Daytona Memorial Park Cemetery.
Margy was a member of the Dunn family who lived in the Daytona Beach area since 1905. She was number eight of ten children born to Edgar Clinton Dunn & Sara Stiling Dunn. Margy was the last surviving member of that generation of Dunn's.
Margy graduated from Mainland High School when it was located on Bay Street in Daytona Beach. She attended Stetson University and worked for three years at the Florida Bank & Trust Company where she met her future husband James R.R Withers. He was in the Navy and they traveled all over the Eastern United States living at various places he was stationed. Later after her children were born Margy worked in the family business as a bookkeeper at Dunn Rite Automotive and switchboard operator for Dunn Brothers Hardware Corporation.
Margy enjoyed vacationing at the family summer home in Balsam N.C. Her children and grandchildren often accompanied her on those trips.
Margy was a devoted wife beloved mother grandmother and friend. She was an avid Miami Dolphins fan who loved Dan Marino! Her family and friends all knew and enjoyed her rare sense of humor. She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
Margy is preceded in death by her husband James R.R. Withers.
Survivors include sons Richard (Barbara) of Apopka James (Vicki) of Daytona daughters Mardi (Roger) Crownover of Ormond Grace (Walter) Brown of New Smyrna Beach grandchildren Anastasia (David) Peters Amy (R.J) Leonard Molly and Jimmy Withers PFC Jason Scali US Army Kristin Scali Chance Brown six great grandchildren numerous nieces and nephews and lifelong childhood friend Dorothy Buddington Collins.
