Margaret F. Ransom passed away on January 8 2013. She was born Margaret Alice Frankling to Harold Frankling and Janet Watt Frankling on January 27 1924. She was known to all as Peggy. She graduated from high school in Long Island at age 16 and from Skidmore College at age 19 both times number two in her class. During and for a time after World War II she worked for U.S. Rubber in New York City. She married Donald G. Ransom at her parents' home on Long Island in May of 1949. She was kept busy raising three sons in places including Schenectady NY Livingston NJ and Pittsfield MA before moving to the Daytona Beach area in 1963 where her sons still kept her busy and sometimes wondering. After yet another move inspired by her husband's job with General Electric this time to the Washington DC area she moved back to Ormond Beach and for almost ten years owned and managed the Jamaican Beach Motel with her husband. She was a long time member of AAUW and active with her college's newsletter and reunions. For the last several years she has lived with new friends and the fabulous people at Riviera Senior Living in Holly Hill. The family thanks all at Riviera for their caring and friendship as well as the wonderful people at Florida Hospital in Ormond Beach. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years Donald G. Ransom; her three sons Marshall (Statesboro GA) Bruce (DeLand) and Douglas (Wendy; Lovleland OH); as well as grandchildren Monica Pomroy (Jason; Las Vegas) Jeannette Remington (Ronny; Bethesda MD) Kendra Lewis (Chris; DeLand) Richie Ransom (Leigh; Ormond Beach) Patrick Ransom (Daytona Beach) and Maureen Ransom (Statesboro GA); and three great grandchildren. There will be a memorial service at Riviera Senior Living on Saturday January 12 at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation to your favorite charity.
