Margaret Jane (Peggy) Perrin Jackim, 68, of Port Orange, Florida, formerly of Bexley, Ohio, passed away on January 9, 2015.
Peggy was born in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, June 13 1946 to Jane S. and Walter A. Perrin who preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Mount Lebanon High School, Mount Lebanon, Pennsylvania, Point Park Junior College, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Capital University, Bexley, Ohio earning both Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees in Nursing there. She was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau Honorary Nursing Society for her scholastic and leadership contributions.
Mrs. Jackim is survived by her husband of 45 years, John; son and daughter-in-law Walter and Laurie Jackim of Montgomery, Alabama; daughter and son-in-law Melissa and Gregg Chandler of Columbus, Ohio; son Trever Jackim of Port Orange; granddaughters Whitney and Hannah Jackim; and brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and "Charlie" Perrin of Georgetown, Deleware.
An Advanced Practice Nurse, her nursing career included Magee-Woman's Hospital, Pittsburgh and Monsour Medical Center, Jeanette, Pennsylvania, Nursing Supervisor for the Franklin County Board of Health, Columbus, Ohio and a Nurse Educator at Nationwide Children's Hospital, also Columbus, Ohio.
As a youth she received the Girl Scout Curved Bar Award, then the highest award in Girl Scouting. Mrs. Jackim was a Brownie, Junior and Cadet Girl Scout Leader and also a Cub Scout Den Leader and District Cub Scout Trainer. She was selected as District Den Leader of the Year and received the District Award of Merit for meritorious service to scouting and the community.
Mrs. Jackim served as Worthy Matron of Beacon Chapter # 593, Order of the Eastern Star, Whitehall, Ohio. She was also a Life Member and a former Treasurer of the Bexley Woman's Club, and a Life Member of both the Bexley High School Music Parents and Athletic Parents Associations. In Florida, she was a Peabody Patron Member of the Broadway in Daytona Shows and a Port Orange Camera Club member.
Her funeral service will be held Friday, January 10, 10:00AM at The First United Methodist Church Port Orange. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at The Bexley United Methodist Church to celebrate Peggy's life.
Interment will be at the Green County Memorial Cemetery, Waynesburg, Pennsylvania.
