Margaret Emily “Peggy” Bradt, of Deland, Florida, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2026, at the age of 87.
Margaret was born on October 20, 1938, in Saratoga Springs, New York, to Harvey and Margaret Stoddard. She was raised in New York and graduated from Schoharie Central School before continuing her education at SUNY Cobleskill.
In 1976, Peggy moved to the Daytona Beach area, where she built a successful career and a life centered on family, community, and creativity. Before her retirement, she was the owner of M&R Mortgage Company, operating offices in Daytona Beach, Deland, and Ocala. Through her professionalism, hard work, and dedication, she earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike.
Peggy was an active member of the Red Hat Society and devoted countless hours to volunteer work within Hawthorne Hills Mobile Home Park. She was known for her generous spirit and willingness to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed.
A talented craftswoman, Peggy found great joy in woodworking and building furniture. She also loved sewing, needlepoint, cross-stitch, and creating intricate dollhouse furniture. Her creativity and craftsmanship brought happiness to those around her and left behind treasured handmade keepsakes for her family and friends.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 18 years, Alan Thibodeau; her children, Debbie Ritz of Deland, Florida, Robert (Dina) Bradt, Karen Bradt, Stephen Bradt of Deland; her brothers, Roy (Ivy) Stoddard of Six Mile, South Carolina, and John Stoddard of Austin, Texas, whose wife, Jacqueline preceded him in death; her sister, Patricia (Tony) Dewsbury of Daytona Beach; grandchildren, Michelle Bradt, Chris Bradt, Kristina Kersey Queen, Charles Daniel Kersey, Crystal Kersey, and Jessie Ritz; and her great-grandchildren, Dakoda, Alexis, Jordyn, Abigail, Emily, and Aiden. Peggy is also survived by a large extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Robert Victor Bradt to whom she was married for 43 years; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Harvey and Joan Stoddard and Joseph and Lillian Stoddard; her brother, Charles Stoddard, whose wife, Rosemarie Stoddard, survives and resides in Virginia; preceded by her sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Ronald Oliver; and Roy Stoddard's first wife, Arvilla Stoddard.
Margaret will be remembered for her entrepreneurial spirit, her kindness and service to others, her remarkable creativity, and the deep love she shared with her family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the many memories she leaves behind.
Family and friends will forever cherish her warmth, generosity, and the beautiful things she created with both her hands and her heart.
