Massfeller Margaret Eastman - Margaret Massfeller 93 of Holly Hill Fl passed away on Tuesday August 28 2012 at the Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center's Hospice section after several months of declining health. She has lived at Bishop's Glen with her Siamese cat Tischa since 2004.
She was born Sept. 3rd 1918 to Cecil and Beth Eastman in Orlando FL. She is known to her friends as Mickey.
Her family moved to Daytona Beach in 1931. Her father worked for the Daytona Beach News-Journal and her mother was a founding member of the Art League of Daytona Beach. Sister Liz Eastman wrote the Chatterbox section of the News-Journal for many years.
Mickey married Kurt Massfeller then of Holly Hill in 1941. They moved to Delaware where Kurt had a 38-year career with the DuPont Company. Mickey loved gardening and art and was a sculptor and painter. They had 2 sons in Delaware Jim and Tom. Jim now lives in Palm Coast and Tom in Ormond Beach.
Kurt and Mickey retired to Ormond Beach in 1977. Kurt was on the Volusia county council for 2 terms in the 1980s and they were both active in many civic and political causes. Kurt passed away in1997.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Ormond Beach Historical Society 386-677-7005 in Mickey's honor. She was a Life member of the Historical Society.
